August is here and that means the summer is winding down and school is getting ready to start back up. I am sure many of you are busy trying to fit last minute vacations and outings or buying school supplies. Our chapter officers have been busy too with a lot of exciting changes and programs that have been launched and are now available to you.
One of the most exciting is the announcement of our collaboration with the St. Louis chapter of the Society for Information Management. Working with them we are proud to announce the presentation of Tony Davis, Consulting Fellow and former Global IT Leader with Fedex.com who will be speaking on “Building a Business Service Reliability Strategy”. This is a free event and will take place at the CenturyLink Technology Solutions building in Town & Country. If you have not signed up yet, you should do so. Early registration is free. A $50 door charge will be tolled for anyone that does not register through the chapter early.
Working with HDI, we are glad to announce that HDI will be holding HDI Support Center Analyst Certification training on September 28th & 29th here in St. Louis. Members receive $100 off the purchase of training. If you would like to sign up for training, please make sure that you use promo code: LCSTL. Early registration discounts are still available until August 18th.
The deals do not end there. We are happy to announce that working with HDI we are able to offer a $200 discount on any new or renewed HDI Professional level memberships. This is a limited time offer good through September 30th. To receive this discount, you may contact a Gateway Chapter officer, purchase/renew via the HDI website or by calling the HDI Customer Care Center at 800.248.5667. As always, as part of the global HDI effort, we want to recognize the best and brightest in St. Louis. Our chapter will once again be accepting nominations for Analyst of the Year, Desktop Support Technician of the Year, HDI manager of the Year and the HDI Team Excellence Award. To be nominated for the Analyst, Desktop Support and Manager of the Year, the individual cannot have won the award in the previous year. Nominations are currently being accepted and the link for submissions can be found under the announcements area of our website.

Speaking of websites, if you have not noticed or have not been to our website, you should check it out. We have made several upgrades to the page. While it is still a work in progress, you can see many of the changes and find a lot of information there. Our August and September meeting signups are posted as well as information from previous meetings. In addition, we have added resources such as a jobs board, a lending library and member’s only resources such as access to live recordings from previous meetings.
